“When ESPN approached us with the opportunity to host the ‘Heroes Hangout’ at a tournament ‘where women are changing the game’ it was an easy yes from us,” said Founder and CEO Robert Hessel, who is a 4th generation military veteran and dad to 2 girls. “We at Source 1 believe that if people feel safe, a city can thrive, so supporting military and first responders has become a core part of our community involvement. This opportunity couldn’t align more perfectly with our company’s values.”

The Shriners Children’s Hospital Clearwater Elite Invitational, presented by EvoShield, was one of the first collegiate softball tournaments to be broadcast on ESPN’s main distribution channel. It welcomed six of the top 10 teams in the country, including #2 UCLA, #3 Stanford, #4 Florida State, as well as others in the top 20, including, #11 LSU, #12 Washington and #16 Georgia. Tickets to the much-anticipated tournament sold out in four minutes this year.

The suite was hosted during Friday and Saturday’s games on field three and offered a full open bar and game-day style food from JR’s Sports Pub. The bar and restaurant are set to soft open in Largo sometime in March and will be fully family-friendly and accessible to those effected by disabilities. It will offer indoor and outdoor activities for both children and adults including bounce houses, pool tables, darts, and video games. It’ll also take accessibility “to a new level” with wheelchair-friendly bar seating that will elevate a wheelchair user to the bar’s height. Additionally, JR’s will offer a sensory-friendly room for those who have difficulty with overstimulating environments to de-escalate safely.
